Tools / Port checker / 80

Is port 80 open?

Port 80 is HTTP. Enter your server below to test it from Dallas, Amsterdam and London.

What port 80 is used for

Unencrypted web traffic. Web servers listen here to serve sites and to redirect visitors to HTTPS.

Should port 80 be open?

Normal to open to the internet. Keep it open for the redirect to HTTPS and for Let's Encrypt HTTP validation; serve real content over 443.

How to open port 80

Ubuntu or Debian with ufw:

sudo ufw allow 80/tcp

Rocky, Alma or CentOS with firewalld:

sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=80/tcp && sudo firewall-cmd --reload

Windows Server, in PowerShell as administrator:

New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Port 80" -Direction Inbound -Protocol TCP -LocalPort 80 -Action Allow

Then check that the service listens on all addresses, not only 127.0.0.1, and test again above.
