The checker connects through your proxy from three of our locations and loads a test page we control. That page records the address it sees and any headers the proxy added.
- Alive
- The proxy accepted the connection, authenticated and returned the page within ten seconds.
- Exit IP
- The address websites see. Its location and network show whether you are getting the country and type you paid for.
- Speed
- Time to fetch the test page through the proxy from each region. Compare regions to find the closest exit.
- Anonymity
- Elite proxies add no proxy headers. Anonymous proxies announce themselves. Transparent proxies pass your real address along.
- HTTPS
- Whether the proxy can tunnel encrypted traffic. Most sites need it.
A residential or mobile proxy should show an ISP or mobile network, not a datacenter. If it fails from one region only, the problem is usually the route to the provider, not the proxy.
Questions
What does the proxy checker test?
It connects through your proxy from Dallas, Amsterdam and London, fetches a test page and reports whether it worked, the exit IP and where it appears to be, the response time, the anonymity level and whether HTTPS tunnelling works.
What do elite, anonymous and transparent mean?
Elite proxies add no headers, so the site cannot tell a proxy was used. Anonymous proxies hide your address but announce themselves with headers like Via or X-Forwarded-For. Transparent proxies pass your real address on.
Is it safe to enter my proxy password?
Your credentials are sent once to our three checkers to run this test and are not logged, stored or placed in a link. If you would rather not share them, rotate the password after testing.
Why does the exit IP differ between regions?
Rotating proxies hand out a new address for each connection. That is normal for residential and mobile pools; use a sticky session if you need the same address across requests.
Which formats can I paste?
host:port, host:port:user:pass, user:pass@host:port, or a full URL such as http://user:pass@host:port or socks5://user:pass@host:port.
