Tools / Port checker / 443

Is port 443 open?

Port 443 is HTTPS. Enter your server below to test it from Dallas, Amsterdam and London.

What port 443 is used for

Encrypted web traffic over TLS. Websites, APIs and most modern services run here.

Should port 443 be open?

Normal to open to the internet. Keep certificates current and the TLS configuration modern; the port itself is meant to be public.

How to open port 443

Ubuntu or Debian with ufw:

sudo ufw allow 443/tcp

Rocky, Alma or CentOS with firewalld:

sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=443/tcp && sudo firewall-cmd --reload

Windows Server, in PowerShell as administrator:

New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Port 443" -Direction Inbound -Protocol TCP -LocalPort 443 -Action Allow

Then check that the service listens on all addresses, not only 127.0.0.1, and test again above.
