Tools / Port checker / 25565

Is port 25565 open?

Port 25565 is Minecraft (Java Edition). Enter your server below to test it from Dallas, Amsterdam and London.

What port 25565 is used for

Default port for Minecraft Java Edition servers. Bedrock Edition uses UDP 19132 instead, which this TCP check cannot test.

Should port 25565 be open?

Normal to open to the internet. Fine to expose for a public server. Use an allow-list for private servers and keep RCON (25575) closed.

How to open port 25565

Ubuntu or Debian with ufw:

sudo ufw allow 25565/tcp

Rocky, Alma or CentOS with firewalld:

sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=25565/tcp && sudo firewall-cmd --reload

Windows Server, in PowerShell as administrator:

New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Port 25565" -Direction Inbound -Protocol TCP -LocalPort 25565 -Action Allow

Then check that the service listens on all addresses, not only 127.0.0.1, and test again above.
